DESIGNING A KITCHEN FOR A QUEENSLANDER

If you are fortunate enough to live in a traditional Queenslander home there will no doubt come a time where the kitchen will need an upgrade.  How do you design a new kitchen but hang on to the unique charm of the Queenslander.

Even though the Queenslander is a traditional home there are a few options that will still suit.  Here are a few ideas:

HAMPTONS KITCHEN

The Hamptons style is casual, relaxed but done in a classic and very sophisticated way. It is a style that has become quite popular as it gives an alternative to the sleek ultra modern alternative.   Hamptons is a versatile style, however the classic Hampton style would include white cabinetry, a large island bench, subway tiles and dark floors.  Maybe a double oven and white crockery on display.

MODERN

Modern styles work well in Queenslanders when mixed with some elements such as industrial seating, a unique splash back or copper pendants.

BRING THE OUTDOORS IN

Most Queenslanders come with the traditional verandah.  Eating outdoors in our glorious weather is a Queensland tradition.  If possible, have the kitchen near the verandah and maybe include some bi-fold doors to make it all one area.   If this isn’t possible, consider a mini kitchen on the verandah space.  You could include a built in BBQ.

Choosing a kitchen style for your Queenslander requires a bit of planning and researching to embrace and enhance the traditional style.  Of course, Everything Cabinets would love to help you design your kitchen for your Queenslander.  https://www.everythingcabinets.com.au/contact/
