7 Quick and Easy Kitchen Updates

We all know that a little change can be a great way to make you fall ‘back in love’ with your kitchen and also save money until you are ready to dive into that massive renovation project. You don’t need to do a complete renovation if your kitchen is working for you, however changing just one aspect of your kitchen could create a totally different environment. Here are 7 quick and easy kitchen updates that you can apply to any kitchen to allow you the feeling of a makeover without hurting your pocket.

1/ Change your Splashback – With so many options for your splashbacks now the traditional tiles has been thrown out the window. Your Splashback can now be the centre-piece of your Kitchen. For Instance Metaline splashbacks come in many different colours and can be cut in one piece for that elegant seamless look. If you want to be even more creative then choose a colourful piece of wallpaper and place it behind a panel of glass. This is a design trick that is really taking off. 2/ Paint your Drawers – Are your drawers looking a bit worse for wear? A fresh coat of paint or a change in door profiles may just give you the lift that your kitchen needs. This is a relatively easy and simple change that can really enhance the entire look and feel.

3/ Laminate – Laminate, laminate. Yes, gone are the days when laminate was boring. The selection these days can give your benchtops that look very much like stone, wood or anything you want it to look like. It is now even easier to get away with changing your benchtops at an affordable price. Knock yourself out and take a look, there are so many colours to choose from and you may be pleasantly surprised by what you find.

4/ Paint the Walls – Have you ever noticed that when a room is repainted it gives it that new feeling? It refreshes the room and makes it feel cleaner, tidier and even larger. Experiment with some new colours and maybe even splash out (pardon the pun) on a feature wall. Remember lighter colours will always make the room feel bigger and warmer colours will make the room feel smaller yet cosier.

5/ Lighten Up – Lighting is the next item that you could update to help your room take on an entirely new form. By adding in a stylish centrepiece or some carefully placed down lights it will grab peoples eye as they enter the room. Add some spot lights in addition to your main lighting and you could illuminate specific pieces in your kitchen such as the range-hood, a colourful clock or a painting.

6/ Utilise the Top Cupboards – How much do you really use the space in your overhead cupboards? Why not have a de-clutter and then open them up, add additional open shelving and highlight some ornaments/books or vases to modernise the room. By utilising this space you can add colour and style to what was once a bland looking room.

7/ Add a Splash of Colour – By adding a colourful painting or a new appliance in a modern colour can be just enough to give your kitchen a fresh new look and feel. Go for a wander through an appliance store and then take a look around your kitchen and see what you could add in that could brighten up your daily tasks such as a new toaster/kettle/blender etc. You can even get them altogether in an appliance pack which now come in such a variety of colours and at more affordable prices than ever before.
